Project Date: 2018
Location: Western Canada
The Challenge: Removal of failed polyurethane that was installed on top of end of life brick tile. The client had no knowledge that the grout failure had cause deep contamination of the thin set materials underneath the tiles. Deep contamination under tile and around the drain. Second floor location required us to be sure that drain needed to be sealed to prevent further leakage to floor below.
The Solution: Drain repaired, with missing concrete replaced with SILIKAL® R17 concrete. There is no cementitious concrete that can compete with the R17 material for bonding, strength and cure time. Floor installed. No call backs. No peeling. Project executed on-time with no downtime penalty to client. Equipment was moved onto the cured.
As a note, SureBond has the only piece of equipment that can quickly demolish red clay tiles that have been inset into the slab.
dairy CHEESE PROCESSING floor

Failed brick tiles, with severe contamination.

Grout failure allowed for severe contamination underneath tile.

25+ year old tiles, some could be peeled easily. This allowed organics pervasively underneath.

Water / Milk / Organics leaked underneath, to processing areas below.

Surface prep is complete around the drain. Silikal resin primed on concrete AND stainless steel drain. Sealing and bonding process begins...

Multiple resin layers used to ensure a seal. Silikal resins used to fill underneath drain lip to hermetically seal to eliminate water flow under the drain.

After completing all other prep in the room, the Silikal R61 floor installed to cover around the drain. 8 or 9 resin applications total around the drain to ensure a hygienic seal.

This two day weekend project installing SureBond's Silikal® R61 floor is now complete. The floor is ready for full service 1 hour after completion, including rolling in the moved equipment back into service.
