
LOCOMOTIVE TRUEING MACHINE track structural underlayment
PROBLEM: TRACK LEADING TO TRUEING MACHINE NEEDED STRUCTURAL SUPPORT IMPROVEMENT TO STOP TRACK FLEXING. WORK PERFORMED AS PART OF A TRUEING MACHINE UPGRADE.
SOLUTION: SUREBOND WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE TRACK STRUCTURAL SUPPORT WITHOUT A MAJOR STRUCTURAL SLAB REPLACEMENT. SUCCESS ACHIEVED USING SILIKAL(R) R17 MMA CONCRETE AS AN CEMENTITIOUS CONCRETE SUBSTITUTE
Project Date: Sept, 2021

New Trueing Machine being installed at major rail road maintenance facility. Slab failure under rail caused rail flexing while during locomotive movements. Trueing machine accuracy would be compromised.

Least costly solution required. SureBond retained by the consulting engineering firm to use our R17 plastic concrete to help solve this problem and keep the project on-track to completion.

With damaged underlying concrete removed, the rails were set as "true" for elevation and spacing to the new machine, held in-place by special hangers, by Others. SureBond then primed / filled the original slab with a R17 aggregate mix. R17 is fully cured in 1 hour, and the tracks "frozen" in that orientation for the Trueing Machine.

EPOXY / URETHANE REPAIR MATERIALS WOULD FAIL WITH TIME. PROVEN SILIKAL(R) REPAIR MATERIAL USED BY GERMAN RAILWAY FOR DECADES.
FULLY CURED IN 1 HOUR. NOT DAYS OR LONGER FOR OTHER RESINS.
COULD NOT ACHIEVE THE SAME RESULTWITH CEMENTITIOUS MIXTURE DUE TO THIN-NESS / BRITTLENESS OF CEMENTITIOUS GROUT MATERIAL.
ANY MOISTURE IN UNDERLYING SLAB WILL NOT IN THE FUTURE WEAKEN THE BOND OF R17 TO SLAB, R17 TO STEEL.
INSTALLED 2021. NO CALL BACKS. PROJECT COMPLETED WITH DOWNTIME MINIMIZED FOR THE RAIL COMPANY AS WELL AS THE ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION FIRM SPECIALIST.
